Learning together and from each other

Scientific exchange with leading institutions is essential for us as a technology company. And rich in tradition, as this selection documents:

• EVVA developed the world’s first computer programs for calculating locking systems back in 1977 – together with Kepler University in Linz
   
• 1979 Invention of the highly secure MCS magnetic code system – together with the Technical University of Vienna
   
• In 2014, the new electronic access systems Xesar and AirKey were launched on the market – partly developed jointly with RISE GmbH

Technological and economic cooperation is more important than ever. EVVA’s research network is a guarantee of economic sustainability for all parties involved (on the left, a selection of our research partners).

Our research and industry stakeholders, we at EVVA, and our trading partners and customers benefit greatly from this exchange. Valuable dialogue and research findings from practical tests are the result, and these can lead to product innovations and new technologies. This has been proven to bring customers ever higher security standards, more convenient applications or faster processes, for example.

EVVA has been cooperating for many years with key business partners such as the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO), the Association of Trade Associations (ARGE Fachverbände), TÜV, Interkey, the Austrian Association of Austrian Security Companies (VSÖ), Vds, the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV), the CDP Center for Digital Production, and many others. These include numerous research institutions.

EVVA's current research cooperations

• Development and testing of AI projects for automatic error detection and quality assurance. Objective: the programs reduce errors in individual production processes, e.g. in packaging, and thereby relieve our employees. Research partners: CDP (Centre for Digital Production), in which EVVA is a co-shareholder (photo at the top) and the Research Studios Austria
   
• Research into new production methods with the Technical University of Graz or RWTH Aachen (objective: optimisation of lead-free production) and FOTEC, the research company of the Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences (objective: additive manufacturing with metal 3D printers)
   
• KERMIT (Knowledge Extraction and Retrieval with Model-driven Information Technologies).
  Objective: Securing knowledge in the company by creating a solid database and knowledge model. This can then be effectively integrated into AI applications
   
• R&D stakeholder dialogue: EVVA strategically involves stakeholders in product development at an early stage. Objective: Stakeholders are actively involved in the design and contribute their market experience, which leads to particularly needs-oriented solutions. Project partner: trade partners, suppliers and customers selected depending on the project
   
• ÖVQ (Austrian Association for Quality) is an umbrella organisation of Quality Austria that coordinates quality audits and training. EVVA cooperates very closely with this institution – benchmark workshops for the industry are regularly organised jointly at EVVA
   

• 

  Initiated by the cooperation partner “StEP-Up”, a consulting company for management systems, EVVA has been participating in a cross-industry lean management platform, the “lean circle”, since 2021. The participating companies meet several times a year to exchange their experiences on lean management, e.g. on work schedule organisation, production logistics, floor management, energy management, digital factory, value stream design, etc. Know-how and learning success are strengthened in internal competitions. EVVA was able to win the internal competition in 2022 and was recognised as a leading lean company!

• Vienna Climate Alliance – a collaboration between the City of Vienna and Viennese companies such as EVVA (since 2025). The participants implement activities for climate protection and the circular economy and also perceive them as an economic opportunity.

• Agenda Austria, think tank for socio-political issues
