Tradition meets modernity

News | 23. August 2022.
Akura 44, EVVA’s latest mechanical access system, secures the legendary headquarters of a long-established Viennese company – K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäckerei Gerstner.

The heart of the K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäckerei Gerstner beats on Kärntner Straße 51, Palais Todesco. With the addition of a café restaurant in 2014, the Vienna-based company revives the legendary headquarters of the company’s founder Anton Gerstner. A new dimension of indulgence culture is offered on three floors. In line with this, the latest access system from Vienna-based company EVVA was installed in 2022 with “A new dimension of flexibility”: Akura 44.

Gerstner – a Vienna company since 1847

In 1847, Anton Gerstner founded a patisserie in the heart of Vienna. Shortly afterwards, he delivered for the first time to the nearby Imperial Court and they were so impressed that Gerstner was awarded the title of K.u.K. ('Imperial and Royal') purveyor to the court as early as 1873. Gerstner is increasingly being commissioned to provide culinary support for diners, receptions and concert feasts at the courtyard. The beginning of a long success story. Whether catering in the Kaiserpavillon during the World Exhibition in Prater, Vienna, in 1873, or the buffet at the signing of the Austrian State Treaty in 1955 at Belvedere Castle – Gerstner stands for meeting the highest culinary demands.

The Akura 44 mechanical access system meets the highest safety requirements. "The existing master key system was no longer up to date for several reasons. Connecting the three floors into a single system in 2014 following the expansion of the company and reducing the number of keys – I felt like a prison guard with this bunch of keys – was the ultimate goal," explains Andrea Jann, Managing Director of the venerable company K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäckerei Gerstner. It was essential to introduce a new, clear structure into the outdated master key system. Thanks to competent advice from Christian Kapuy, EVVA consultant, good value for money and short reaction times, EVVA was able to take on the challenge and quickly implement it.

The result was a master key system that was able to meet all requirements thanks to its flexibility and easy installation in the listed building. "The cooperation with EVVA worked without any problems. We are very satisfied with Akura 44," says Ms Jann.

A new dimension of flexibility

Akura 44 has been developed from our experience of working on mechanical locking systems for over 100 years. It is a flexible reversible key system, where special attention has been paid to covering the versatile security requirements in a project flexibly with an access system. Security, flexibility, attractive pricing and investment security. Akura 44 stands out in all these categories.
