amRietpark: maximum security thanks to the combination of Xesar and 4KS

The residential district amRietpark is a unique place with a moving history and a promising future. In a place where materials were once dyed and glue was produced, a lively, modern living environment for all generations has been created. Schlieren is close to Zurich and therefore offers an attractive location especially for young residents, as there is little living space. The neighbourhood has excellent connections to Schlieren train station. The new, dynamic neighbourhood with an area of 125,000 m2 is secured with the Xesar electronic access system in combination with the convenient and robust 4KS (4-curve system).

Security and convenience combined

The requirements were varied, and the combination of security and comfort was specifically achieved here by combining mechanics and electronics in one project. The residential district comprises different types of buildings such as kindergarten, youth housing, normal apartments, a high-rise building and the Tertianum retirement and nursing home. There are also commercial units such as a bicycle shop and a pizzeria. The apartments are all mechanically equipped and have combination keys. The main access points were initially equipped with offline wall readers, while the external access points were initially planned mechanically. However, an online Xesar wall reader was installed during the construction phase, which convinced the company that it would be put into regular operation. The main entrance and the underground car park entrance were later also equipped with online wall readers, and tenants were informed that they could update their keys there regularly.

A total of 1,200 4KS cylinders, 55 Xesar wall readers and 80 Xesar cylinders were installed and around 1,700 combi keys were issued. The locking system is managed by the DBU administrative department and the Tertianum retirement and care centre, which is leased for 30 years. Supported by an experienced EVVA key account, the electronic Xesar system was installed by VIP Security from Chur. The mechanical 4KS locking system by security specialist UTO Sicherheitstechnik from Zurich. The combination resulted in a good all-round solution for convenient access, as well as convenient management of the various access situations.
